Kick-off 2012-2013: Documenta13

To start of the new academic year and to get to know each other better, all the master students could join on a two-day trip to dOCUMENTA (13) in Kassel. It proved to be an inspirational visit, not in the least because it made everyone look across the borders of their own discipline, like this quote from Rowena Crowe, one of the students, shows:

“For me the most successful or the most satisfying exhibits at dOCUMENTA (13) where the installations that created an environment or atmosphere where you were transported to another world or another way of looking at the world. This might have an installation containing a combination of photography, animation, sculpture, sound and other related ephemera. A highlight was William Kentridge and the work of Kader Attia. I also enjoyed Charlotte Salomons work. I found her palate and sense of colour appealing and her storyboard-like paintings gave me the immersive sense of being dropped into a story and hence going on a journey to another place.”
